ちぎられた多肉植物/Succulent leaves, torn

多肉植物の葉っぱを子供にちぎられてしまいました。

My daughter tore the succulent leaves.

少し目を離したすきに・・・。

In a second when I was looking away...

根が生えてくる事を願って、干しています。

乾燥しているといいのですが、この頃の雨でだめになってしまうかな？

Usually, roots come out of the leaves in a few days. 

But maybe not this time, in these rainy days. 

どんぐり/Acorns

台風の後の公園には、どんぐりがたくさん落ちていました。

清澄公園にはたくさんの種類のどんぐりの木が植えてあります。

どんぐりを拾い、秋を感じて、

蚊にたくさん刺されて、まだまだ終わらない夏の季節も感じました。

どんぐりは人を魅了する何かを持っています。

小さな子も、少し大きくなった子も、おとなにとっても

きれいなどんぐりを見つけると嬉しくなってしまいます。

Acorns have a magic to attract people, not only kids

but also grownups. 

台風一過/After typhoon

台風が過ぎて、本日は青空。

Blue sky after massive typhoon. 

ハニーサックルが天高く。

Honey suckle climbs up so high.

夏を乗り切ったマーガレットが、また青々と

茂ってきました。夏の暑さでだめになってしまうのも

多いので、生き延びてよかった。

Marguerite survived in hot summer. Now it starts to 

have young green leaves. 

まだまだ暑いので、園芸店には沢山の種類の花は並んでいません。

そのかわり、いろいろな種類のダリアが売っていました。

チョウチョ/Butterflies

数年前に比べて、植物が増えたこともあり、

毎日いろんな虫達がやってきます。

As we grow more plants, more visitors stop by our balcony. 

「ヒメアカタテハ」というオレンジの蝶は

この白い花の蜜を吸いに毎日やってきます。

数時間ほど庭の周りに滞在しています。

つがいでやってくる時もあります。

This orange butterfly likes this white flower. 

It stays here for a few hours everyday. 

秋の気配/Fall is coming

９月に入り、少し暑さも落ち着いてきました。

草花の葉の色も、褪せたような黄緑から、

綺麗な緑になってきて、元気を取り戻しています。
In September, the weather is cooling down. 
The plants on the balcony seem to be healthier. 

ククミスが盆栽の木に登っています。

タワシのような実をたくさんつけています。

Cucumis climbing up on the Bonsai tree. 

夏の間花を咲かせるのをお休みしていたイチゴ。

また沢山花を咲かせています。

They stop blooming during hot summer.

Now they start to bloom again. 

花屋にはコスモスの苗が出回って、秋を感じさせます。

Cosmea flower. It is a symbol of the fall season. 

自家製かき氷 / Shaved Ice

ここ数年、こだわりのかき氷が雑誌に特集されているのを見ます。

昨年、谷中のとあるかき氷専門店に行ったところ、３時間待ちと言われました。

がっかりして帰る途中に立ち寄った両国の甘味処でも生イチゴの

かき氷がやっており、とても美味しかったので、これからここで

毎年食べようと思っていました。

In recent years, shaved ices are in the boom. 

Last summer, we visited a famous shaved ice speciality restaurant, but

the line was 3 hours wait, so we had to give up.

でも、今年そのお店に行ったら凄い行列で入れませんでした。

We found another Japanese sweet restaurant which serves good shaved ice, 

but this year, there was also long line. 

こうなったら自分の家で作ろうということで、

かき氷マシーンを手に入れ、

蜜も本格的に手作りしました。

So we decided to make our own. 

氷屋さんでブロックの氷を仕入れて作ります。

冷凍庫から取り出してすぐ削るとジャリジャリしてしまうので、

１５分程室温において氷をやわらかくしてから削ると

ふわっとした氷に仕上がります。

Block ice should be in room temperature for 15 minutes 

to soften. If we shave it without waiting, the shaved ice become to hard. 

基本の数種の砂糖が入ったシロップに、

抹茶、生イチゴ、練乳も市販のものに少し手を加えました。

Basic syrup made with various sugars, Green tea syrup, and strawberry syrup. 

White one is condensed milk mixed with basic syrup and raw cream. 

甘酸っぱい生イチゴかき氷。

これでもうお店で並ぶ必要はありません。

So gooood! We don't need to stand in the long line any more. 

夏の寄せ植え/Summer Arrangement

再び猛暑の日々がやってきました。

Hot weather again. 

今年の庭はコガネムシと蝶がたくさんやってきます。

Chafers and butterflies visit our balcony often this summer. 

重なり合う二頭のアゲハ蝶。

Two butterflies connected, they even fly keeping this posture. 

トケイソウも咲いています。

Passion fruits flower. 

寄せ植えの新作。

真夏は店に出回る花の種類が少ないです。

夏らしい派手な花の寄せ植えを作りました。

New arrangement. 

There are few flowers in the shop in summer. 

I made this with the concept "gorgeous summer."

大きな鉢には沢山花が入るので、やりがいがあります。

The big pot contains many kind of flowers.
