Weekend breakfast#1

Galette that we ate at green festival was so good,
I decided to make it for our own.

Buckwheat dough should be kept in fridge for three hours.
So it was shifted from breakfast to lunch.

It was actually so so.
I should keep trying to make it better.

In tomorrow morning, we try to make ricotta pancakes!

In between rainy days

Since rainy days continue a few weeks,
one sunny day is a very precious day.
We went out to Sumida river for walk.

North side of Eitai bridge.
We can see Tokyo Sky Tree.

Morning glory in full bloom.

South side of Eitai bridge.
A lot of business people were having lunch outside today.

Blueberries on the balcony started to get ripen.

Selecting flowers by color.

Hanging pot has varieties of flowers with limited soil,
so we need to consider the selection of flowers.

One way of choosing a flower is a selection by color.

The flower whose color lasts longest is...

It's white. It doesn't need to produce pigment,
the flower lasts long with clean color. That's my guess.

The second one is...

It's yellow. Its vivid color tends to last
throughout the season.

The third one is...

It's purple. The flowers bloom with vivid color for a white,
but the color seems to be faded in the end of the season.

Lastly...

Pink seems to be the hardest one to keep the bright color.
It starts to lose the color in quite short time.

Red pot and White hanging

Visited a flower shop to look out summer flowers for gardening.

Red flower pot.

The point is burnet.
I sometimes see it in highland.
Never seen they sell it in store, but nowadays they do.

Ladies tresses found in grasses on sideway.
For me it rather looks like G clef.
It was also found in my parents' garden.

Carrot soup

It's rainy everyday. Gardenia is blooming and flowers smell so sweet.

My daughter is not feeling well due to frequent change of the weather.
So I made carrot soup for her. I also used an onion picked from my
father's farm last weekend.

Stir fry vegetables, boil it with consomme soup, add milk
and mix all in the blender.

Soil for plants

Herbs and vegetables that I planted last month are not growing well.

Radishes, how much should we wait until we can eat them?

Dill and cilantro, have few leaves.

Tomato leaves look yellowish.

I wonder what was the reason.
One possibility is the soil I have used for the first time.
It is the ultra light soil that I thought it was good as it was a pain in the neck
to bring heavy soil to the balcony.

The soil is soft and looks nutritious,
but it may not be suitable for our plants.

I will buy normal soil next time, or may mix the soil.

Small incidents on the balcony

There are small things happening in the balcony everyday.

A small bee like bug is a horsefly.
They are beneficial insects eating aphids.
They don't have stings.

Mint became wild, growing with fallen soils and water.

Beneath the banksia rose tree, there is wild roquette growing.
Pips fallen from the pots few years ago and they started to live there.

Some orange flowers are blooming on our balcony.

Nasturtium, the edible flower, can be used as steak sauce,
 or mixed in salad.

Succulent flowers. Put in a vase WITHOUT water.
They could last for weeks.
